The More than a Market organizers are inviting you to join the excursion to Good-Ark Electronics based in Suzhou, China's largest and the world's third largest diode manufacturer. Mr. Wu Nienbo, Founder and Chairman of Good-Ark Electronics, will guide us through the companies' facilities by showcasing his successfully implemented model of Humanistic Leadership.
To establish a successful business, Mr. Wu believes that passion and drive for what one does and a profound respect for each other must be guaranteed. In 2009, he publicly pledged "to bring the culture of the sages to the world to benefit mankind" and developed eight "Happy Enterprise"-modules to lead employees to work towards this mission. The eight modules are: 1) Humanistic care, 2) Humanistic education, 3) Green practice, 4) Health promotion, 5) Philanthropic actions, 6) Voluntary services, 7) Recording and publicizing humanistic practices, and 8) Fulfilling role responsibilities. On June 30th, 2020, the company promised to never lay-off employees. Later, in April this year, the company offered employees an average of 10% increase in salaries. It has also eliminated 90% of night shifts.
During the tour, you will experience first-hand why Humanistic Leadership is a successful CSR approach - especially for small and medium enterprises. After the tour, we are inviting you to discuss your learnings, questions, and ideas in a Round Table, together with Mr. Wu, Prof. Pingping Fu, Professor of Organizational Behavior at Nottingham University Business School China (NUBS China) and Ms. Brigitte Wolff, General Manager at EIM Executive Interim Management China, Board member of the German Chamber of Commerce | Shanghai and member of the More than a Market Steering Committee. Professor Fu will be joining us on the way to Suzhou and provide her knowledge and background information on the "Happy Enterprise" to participants.
The tour will end with lunch in the canteen, kindly provided by Good-Ark Electronics.
About Good-Ark Electronics:
Good-Ark Electronics started as a small manufacturer of diodes in 1992 with 68 people in Suzhou. The company now has over 1,600 employees and has become China's largest and the world's third largest diode manufacturer. The factory went public in 2006. Except for retirees, most of the 68 original employees are still with the company because the company treats people like family members - unless there are specific reasons, like married or moved, people are reluctant to leave once joined.
